| Wanna play catch… dad? |
Before I’m even going to write this, I’d like to wish all of
our readers a Happy Father’s Day. I
myself am only 20 years old and not a father (thank goodness) but I have a
tremendous amount of admiration and respect for my father, as should all of
you. I don’t know anyone more
supportive and inspirational in my life.
Thanks, pops.
Moving on though – I thought it’d be appropriate to briefly talk
about how important fathers are to sports today. I mean, honestly, where would sports be
without them? They are the ones who
drove us to practice, coached little league, bought our equipment and
encouraged us to learn and grow as people.
Of course not all of us are professional sports players, but our fathers
gave us all the tools and encouragement we needed to succeed at something and
learn at a young age.
Without them it’d be fair to say that there would be no
sports. Without fatherly figures to
teach patience, discipline and how to learn from our mistakes we wouldn’t have
any sports players! While all of us aren’t
as athletic as Patrice Bergeron or Wes Welker, without playing organized sports
at some point in our lives we would certainly be at a disadvantage in the real
world. In turn, without having dedicated
fathers and mothers, we would never have any organized sports. So thank you fathers around the world for
taking time to play catch with your little boys and girls. We appreciate what you’re all doing for the
world of sports.
great post
