Giants Stomp AL in All-Star Game

Where's the ball?  That's a clown question, bro.

The only enjoyable thing about watching the All-Star Game was watching Bryce Harper fail.  I’m sick and tired of hearing that kid’s name. Yes, he has revitalized the Nationals.  Yes, he’s one of the youngest all-stars in the history of baseball.  Should he have been playing in the All-Star Game? No.  He brings in a lot of cash though, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past 2 months (look at the NBA playoffs) sports are all run by money.  Whoever brings in the most money will benefit.

I’m not a huge baseball fan by any means… I’ll watch the Sox if there’s nothing else on but other than that it’s a slow sport that can be pretty boring to watch.  That said, I could definitely see how much better the NL was than the AL (as could everyone else watching).  I mean, Justin Verlander with 5 earned runs in the first inning? This is a MVP, Cy Young winning pitcher who looked like John Lester out on the mound.  The only difference is that Lester could never throw a 101 mph fastball.

Giant’s third baseman, Pablo Sandoval, shocked the by critics belting a 3 run triple in the first inning.  Giant’s catcher, Buster Posey, was one of those 3 runs.  Giant’s left fielder, Melky Cabrera had 2 hits including a two-run homer in the fourth and took home the MVP award.  Oh yeah, and Giant’s starting pitcher Matt Cain pitched two shutout innings and got the win.  So what’s the lesson here?  The Giants have a pretty good team!  The NL won 8-0, and Giants players batted in 5 of those runs.  Not bad.

Despite the Rangers and the Yankees playing exceptionally in the American League, there are like 6 World-Series caliber teams in the National League.  I think, now with home field advantage, Washington, Pittsburgh or San Francisco will win the World Series this year. And since Boston doesn’t have a chance, (sorry, they don’t), I’m perfectly okay with that.

Despite many people including commissioner of baseball, Bud Selig, believed that the Giants were overrepresented in the All-Star Game, they played the best ball out of any other team there.  I’m kind of pulling for them to take it all.  And if they don’t make it all the way, the NL team that does should thank the Giants.  They are the reason the NL has home-field advantage this year.

By the way, this year the only member of the Red Sox that played in the All-Star Game was Big Papi.  Way to go you big Dominican teddy bear. Hang in there! We love you!
